What happened after attending “Your Sensitivity Is Your Power” teleseries

Just before the New Year, I had the immense pleasure of doing a bit of “pre-paving” my future by attending Dr. Alison J. Kay’s, “Your Sensitivity Is Your Power” tele-call series, and wowee!!

So, what happened after I attended the tele-call series?

I gained a clarity of my own personal power. Almost like I was stepping up a staircase of emotional well-being and balance! Yes, I accepted an invitation from the Universe to step up my personal power by being on these calls, and I’m the better for it!

As a sensitive type of person–in my life having been known as one to cry easily, become overly concerned with other people’s dramas, or get easily overwhelmed, I noticed each day after the tele-call experience, I felt lighter, happier, and less concerned with other people’s “stuff” going on around me!

Sometimes, I tend to feel as though I am carrying the burden of other people so much, that I prefer not to interact with others at all. Much of those feelings lifted after the tele-call series for me, and continue to lift as time goes on.

People used to tell me they knew I was naturally empathic. Dr. Kay explained empaths and their traits in great detail during the tele-call series. She let us know how each of us could use our gift of empathy to give us more ease and comfort day-to-day. We learned how to use our sensitive side without losing our sense of self.

After each tele-call, I began to practice any/all of the following each day–whenever any difficult situation or conversation would occur:

  • Mentally ask myself,Is this mine?” And, if I knew it was NOT my problem, then I would mentally state, “Return to sender with grace, ease, and love attached, or I would simply state, “Send ’em love” (learned previously, but not practiced much) to really feel the vibrations emanating from my heart (the invisible intelligence Dr. Wayne Dyer used to speak of) going out to the person, lifting my feelings about whatever was going on.
  • Breathereally breathe, even take an extra walk as needed, climb stairs, stretch, or meditate. Then at my office desk, self soothe with my Young Living essential oils, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ), and/or Yamuna Body Rolling — using one ball behind my back and/or putting my bare feet on the foot wakers under my desk. (This has also has enabled me to share these modalities with others when they would ask what I was doing–Yay!)
  • Distance myself when my inner being tells me, re-soundly, that right NOW (in THIS moment), this person or place is not good for me (or I am not good for others in this space). I honor, respect, and love myself enough, to walk away and go to another place where I can feel good!
  • Set boundaries. I can choose whether–whatever is happing in this moment–conflicts with what I’ve previously written about (to “Be open to receive”) and to know that I am allowed also, to receive or not. Must I receive all and filter? Must I receive bad to receive good? Maybe. But, I have the power to choose that for myself.
  • Expand my energy – Each morning include in my meditation to go into my awareness and expand it outward to my family, my circle of influence, neighbors, local community, state, region, country, continent, and world. Celebrate the knowing of others via Twitter, Facebook, my blogs, etc. whom live in other countries. Celebrate this knowing of WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. This is true.
  • Empower myself. Indeed, put my cape on! 😉 Be my authentic self. Act on the truth that my inner being resonates with, i.e. when I feel my “God bumps”. I even signed up for Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith’s Life Visioning class, no doubt because of how powerful I felt after completing Dr. Kay’s tele-call series! How does it get any better than this? Yay! And later, I signed up for Yamuna classes (see this Examiner article I wrote) to learn about “Body Rolling”.
  • Though I know, I don’t act like it. It is never necessary to be the victim. I am not trapped. I always have a choice. I break any DNA, biological, mental, or spiritual chains that could have come through my lineage and blood. In the name of our Limitless, Ever-Living, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Pulsating, Be-ing, Creator Source God who IS the Energy that holds the Universe together. Beyond what we can see. Beyond what we now know. Faith IS the substance of things not yet seen.

Empaths have our own level of sensitivity, level of awareness, unique energetic healing modalities, and spiritual gifts to share with the world! I am ready to share mine!

The tele-call sessions with Dr. Alison J Kay and her empowering messages and clearings, transformed past (even something that happened a moment ago is “the past”) shame of negative actions–allowing me to consciously “let go” of negative limiting thoughts, acknowledging that forgiveness is a daily process. I knew the pain I felt in my body were the cells of my body (scientist Candace Pert proved cells hold memories) calling out for me to transcend and know that really everything IS okay!

Dr. Kay’s clearings tuned me in and provided me with different verbiage to explain to myself, and to you in this post, what had been happening. Healing is an ongoing PROCESS!

Everyday life causes certain connections to occur:

  • The neighbor who may or may not smile at me when I step outside. That person doesn’t know me.
  • The store clerk that serves me may ask, “Did you find everything okay?” without really meaning it.
  • The restaurant owner’s son, who while ignoring us, scolded an employee (the employee was actually attempting to seat us) for not following proper procedures. He didn’t realize they would lose a customer by behaving that way in front of us, instead of just seating us–they could train their staff in private later!
  • The soldier (police, firefighter, teacher, or other public servant) who is just “doing their job” without considering the moral choices he or she actually has.

Many of us abdicate our ability to choose and lose a moment (or more) of happiness and joy for  ourselves and others. And we can help others – we really can! If we’re in better shape emotionally, mentally, and physically, we can change the world! And why is that important? Because We Are All Connected!

The energies and what I learned during Dr. Alison J. Kay’s tele-call series for sensitives continues to free me. The time spent on her calls FELT sooo good, not just for a short time, but weeks later.

The tele-call  series gave me hope for all of us to continue on our journey, learning and growing every day. To me, there is no such thing as “false hope”. Hope is hope. Because FAITH is the SUBSTANCE of things not yet seen.

I invite you to continue opening your mind to learning about something new in 2016 and beyond. You are never to old to be open to receive new and helpful information.

Be ye blessed in ALL ways.

Juicing, Paleo, No-Grain Diet, Mostly Vegetarian – Who needs labels?

Okay so I am finally ready to reveal my new diet. I have been doing this for several months now and it’s working. It’s really working. I have lost weight effortlessly. Gained vitality. Renewed my body Temple. And increased the frequency with which, I feel connected to Source Creator God, and all of you. We Are All Connected.

We Are All One. Yes, yes, and yahoo… YES!

Here’s the deal about diet for life (lifestyle) change:

I drink raw vegetable juice — everyday. At least one 16 ounce raw veggie juice, often 32 ounces. Plus water. Monday through Friday–I only juice during the day. And if I don’t have time to juice for myself, I buy juices from a raw vegan cafe; thank you Ionie’s Cafe! Ionie’s vacuum seal the juice in glass mason jars. I pack my juice in a ThirtyOne bag (with ice) and enjoy at work. Then, for the evening meal… I eat a light meal or soup for dinner. That’s it. If I feel the need to eat something, I will mix raw nuts and seeds, typically only a 1/2 cup or less and throw in my work bag. Mostly pumpkin and sunflower seeds, walnuts, pecans, almonds, and brazil nuts. I eat a bit more on the weekends, but nothing outrageous.

The weekday light meal? Primarily, a can of Amy’s Organic soup, or a salad with grilled or broiled fish. Now and then, I will have some other vegetable like broccoli, sweet potato, or asparagus, but rarely white potatoes. On occasion, I will get a beef patty (no bun), or a steak, but I suspect I will only do that once every two or three months. I have basically lost my desire to eat meat. I like turkey once in awhile too, but we always look for the less processed, organic variety when we buy it.

I am not eating any processed sugar — unless you count wine. I had some sugar over the holidays because my daughter makes (and ships) chocolate truffles from New Hampshire and I love supporting her, so I had a few of those (one a day, every other day). Yes I am attempting to be transparent here. This also keeps me humble and on track. I do not desire to cheat because that’s only cheating my Temple.

UPDATE 1/1/2016: No more truffles and a lot less wine.

I am learning that I am a cross between a raw vegan and a paleo or no-grain eater. I am not a 100% raw vegan because I do still consume eggs, honey, fish, seafood, and very little meat. But I put into daily practice much of what I learned from being a raw vegan back in 2009-2010. I love raw vegan nut cheese instead of dairy cheese. Whenever I eat dairy cheese I can always tell the difference. I’ve also learned that my body does not digest raw tomatoes very well.

As for my spiritual growth:

As for the spirituality aspects of clean eating… the other night a lady asked if I go to church. I answered a triumphant… No. But then I thought, why would I when I believe my body is the Temple. Yes, with a capital T. And I believe all of your bodies are Temples too. I believe in God-made, vs. Man-made. I will always. That is a core belief of mine. Hmmm. I just misspelled belief as belife. Isn’t that interesting? I corrected it but now I am thinking be-life is actually better!

I am finding that by fasting during the daytime on weekdays, it has heightened my spiritual awareness, including also a physical awareness of how much people around me EAT. The over consumption in America is disheartening. It’s not wonder so many of us are overweight and miserable. I highly suspect our bodies were never meant to be in this shape, and yes, round is a shape.

I am focused on learning more about energy medicine. By changing my focus from food: what to eat, how to make it, when to buy it, etc. I definitely have more time available for reading, sharing, and learning about energy, frequency, brain waves, intuition, etc. Case in point, this week I took my first Jin Shin Jyutsu class. I am amazed how how wonderful I feel! I feel good, really good.

I mean, I always feel pretty good. Can’t complain. But on occasion I’ve experienced vertigo (ever since working at the Space Center, which I felt may have had something to do with it). The vertigo would come and go. I felt that I had to be watchful when it came to doing any task that might set it off. Laying on a massage table for a massage, at times, could cause me to experience vertigo. Forget about head down yoga postures!

So, the other day after 30 minutes of Jin Shin Jyutsu – both of my ears “opened”! I was ecstatic! Now I can flip my head over to put a towel on my head after getting out of the shower! Yay! Yahoo!

About faith, timing, and living life more abundantly:

The Bible is full of stories about how God created us in His image and wants us to live life and have it more abundantly. To me, those understandings mean that He provides for us, in all ways, for our health, and for our needs. I think we’re the ones that think that means He will always answer our prayers and give us what we desire, but I do not think so. I believe our needs are always, in ALL WAYS, provided. But often God withholds some things, and some answers, for a later time for us, when we are prepared to handle those things. That is why I believe God’s timing is always perfect. And blessed assurance tells me that is why, when the student is ready, the teacher arrives.

Have faith. You know, faith – which is the opposite of worry. Faith IS the substance of things not yet seen. That said, worry is actually a sin because God tells us to have faith. Exercise your faith by taking care of yourself. The Bible also instructs us how to eat and move our bodies, but how many of us follow those instructions? I think it pleases God when we learn about those and practice those habits. Pork is not the other white meat. Pigs are dirty animals that have no sweat glands. Quit dishing on PETA people and take an honest look at what they have to say. Or talk to a pig farmer. Watch a documentary. Just don’t eat pork. Make it easy. Those parasites in pork, yeah they live through the cooking process. And really, the more crap you eat, the harder it will be for you to feel good. I’d bet it also shortens your life. And if you believe suicide is a sin then dying a slow death by eating stupid silly non-beneficial foods is a sin too.

Now, I am not preaching all this stuff to make you feel guilty. Just quit complaining about what other people do and think about what you do. Study to show thyself approved and make one small change at a time until you feel good. I am not above anyone. I am human and I fail. But God has been showing me some things. So, I am sharing what I learn in an effort to help you feel good. Nothing more. Be healthy. Live well.

Quit running to doctors and putting your faith into what amounts to be medical witchcraft (Yes look up the history, especially all of you who are so fast to point a finger at anyone who believes in another religion). Those big pharmaceutical companies you love so much are a cog in the wheel of the beast. They do NOTHING to cure anyone. They may prolong life but in what state? They do not cure. They ease suffering perhaps. They mask symptoms so you never DO anything to heal your Temple. In my estimation, they are the liars. They are the ones who are selling you false hope. I am tired of hearing people’s excuses why they need this or that drug from a chronic illness. Your lifestyle, mostly the food you’re eating, that’s what’s chronic.

Go to the doctor if you break a bone, but for asthma, digestive issues, migraines, back aches, arthritis, inflammation, and more… seek alternative advice. I am not a doctor, nor do I prescribe any treatments or solutions. I am shaking you awake! Take It Upon Yourself to live your best, most vital life!

As for exercise, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu:

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an energy medicine art that I have decided to focus on this year. I am learning (thanks to reader comments and friends), that it’s best to meditate, then perform Jin Shin Jyutsu, then do my daily stair climbing. That makes sense to me. But I am always trying to maximize what little spare time I have. I work full-time. So, I do the stair climbing when I need a break at work. Thankfully I am able to take a 10-15 minute break twice a day, and my stair climbing has improved so much that I can climb 8 flights safely, and return, within that time. Much less actually.

Exercise works the body, and meditation dedicates the mind. I will learn transcendental meditation (TM) at some point.

The pulsing, or vibration that I feel when I practice Jin Shin Jyutsu is simply amazing! I feel God bumps when I talk about it! I need nothing outside of myself to validate anything for me.

I am connected to my breath, I am enjoying all the self-care I have learned about this past year. I am excited and hopeful about the future. All really is well.

I have a second new book coming out in February, so stay tuned for more on that. The name of the book is, The Energy of Receiving by Happiness Publishing. My first book is doing well on Amazon. You can find it here –>> Transform Your Life, Book 2 Inspirational Stories and Expert Insights.

Take only what you need, leave the rest

I’ve gone to many churches (different religions) over the years and I have found some common thinking among them. I love learning about God and all means of connecting with our Creator. I don’t search because I haven’t found God, I search because there’s so many different ways to connect with God!

But there were some preachers who said things I didn’t like (meaning that I found some of the things they said were divisive and did not resonate as positive with me). Things such as:

  • “We’re right, they’re wrong”
  • “We are the only church preaching the true gospel”
  • “We’re the only ones baptizing the correct way”
  • “All other religions are wrong

Those statements seemed contrary to my nature and what God put upon my heart and some were contradictory to what Jesus said (or have been attributed to Jesus) in the Bible.

When I asked some of the followers of these kinds of churches about the things their preacher was saying they replied: “Well, I may not believe everything the church, religion, or my preacher teaches but I follow the basic tenets and leave the rest”.

Then I asked, why would you continue to attend (or belong) to a church / faith that did not align with your beliefs? Most would answer something along the lines of:

  • “I stay out of respect for my spouse, parents, grandparents, etc.”
  • “The preacher is smarter, more studied, etc. than me”
  • “I’ve gone to this church my whole life and changing now would be too difficult”
  • “Perhaps I’m being convicted and have more to learn here”

Then I came upon the statement of: “Take what you need and leave the rest” when I attended several different 12 step recovery programs during a time when an ex-spouse was dealing with substance abuse and his doctor wanted the whole family to undergo therapy.

The concept reminded me of what those church goers told me years before so I began applying that concept to many things in life. Truly in all of my research and study I have not found anyone who “knows it all” so that phrase has helped me open to more. I have not found anyone who has a perfect life, or “has it all” no matter how you define the words, perfect and all.

I’ve written before about my maternal grandparents raising my mother and her siblings in a particular faith that believed in the Almighty Living God. One of the most challenging aspects of that Christian faith is how many other people, even other Christians, called our church a cult! But I would not have experienced the healing power of God via “laying on of hands” – the first and most powerful Source of Energy Medicine – had I not been attending that particular church. In fact, I was healed of colitis when I was young because my mom knew to call upon the elders.

To explain a bit about that experience, when I was about seven or eight years of age I experienced severe abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and difficulty eliminating (all symptoms of colitis). My mother took me to the hospital emergency room. During the doctor’s physical examination of me I became hysterical because of one particular method the doctor used which scared me to death and physically hurt!

I think my shrieks and cries of pain reminded my mother that our family typically prayed first and asked for laying on of hands by the elders (totally calming and non-invasive), before going to a doctor or hospital. So, she took me home and called the elders of the church to come and administer laying on of hands to me. I never experienced any symptoms of colitis after their prayer!

NOTE: The doctor had prescribed some paregoric Kaopectate that a pharmacist had to compound for me, along with an enema when we got home. The interesting thing to me now about his recommendation of the enema is that had we believed in having colonics / colon hydrotherapy or enemas on a regular basis and right ways of eating I never would have been in that situation to begin with!

I should also mention at this point that I recognize in some emergency instances intensive allopathic medical options may be necessary. I do not mean for anyone to throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak and throw all allopathic medicine to the curb. All healing comes from God and God allows doctors, nurses, and healers (including allopathic practitioners) to possess abilities and skills to help people. However, in my experience, prayer is most powerful and now the Mind, Body, and Spirit sciences are proving this!

I have had friends and family who prayed and went to the doctor. I am not judging that. God works in all ways, often mysterious! God can heal you on the way to the doctor! The important distinction is: Ask God first! Ask and continue asking. Then be open to receive God’s answer.

Do not judge or condemn others who believe differently than you, as they have their own path. If you believe God lives in you, they may also believe God lives within them! When you argue with them about their beliefs the vibration of that interaction actually runs counter to what God wants which, is for all peoples to live in peace acknowledging Creator God.

If you want to open to receive more, the Bible teaches:

“Study to show yourself approved to God…”

“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

As for the church of my youth, while I feel it beautifully served me well for a time, I am continuing to seek wisdom by following the pulsing sensation (“God bumps”) I feel in my body when God, our Source, our Creator confirms I am on the path. I’ve learned that judgment does not resonate with me. Oneness speaks to me.

Now my “church” occurs anytime I talk with at least one other person about our LIMITLESS Ever-Living Filling-All-Space Creator. And I continue to research and study. I find much of the new science thrilling! To me it all validates God it does not negate God. Darwinian evolution theory is out – disproven. Science still does not know where we came from but chromosome 2 in our DNA proves we did not evolve from ape-man. Kids, your school books are WRONG.

Currently, I am reconnecting with things that interested me as a child. Because I used to love archeology and dinosaurs I began listening to Gregg Braden. One of his recent interviews about his book Deep Truth – (click on the words Deep Truth to watch his video on YouTube) or  watch the interview I saw on GaiamTV.

Gregg’s interview led me to explore this site, about heart-based coherence: Global Coherence

I follow and study the work and writing of many people though. To me, this is a topic I will be able to study the rest of my life. There’s soooo very much to learn!

In all things I wish you love, peace, and many blessings. In fact, everything you have and all that is around you right now (even any suffering you may be experiencing) is with you for a reason and to bless you.

Take only what you need, leave the rest. Thank you and Namaste.

Words are only as powerful as we allow

In many circles you will hear people say that “words are powerful”, but do you believe it?

If words are powerful, do you know why? Because words carry vibration. Vibrational TONE. The tone sets up something for people, and animals too, that carries your intention forward.

Think of a time when you called out to a loved one, or pet, by name. Maybe they came to you. Their choice. Their free will. But, maybe they didn’t come to you. Or maybe not immediately. Perhaps they chose to stop whatever it was they were doing that you didn’t like. Or, perhaps not!

You call out again. Still, they do not bend to YOUR will, wishes, or desire. You call AGAIN. This time your tone of voice changes, getting more irritated, annoyed, angry, and LOUD. You can’t understand why, with all the energy your transmitting to this person, or pet with your voice, you’re not commanding their attention. You are attempting to control that person or animal with words.

Yet, the only difference in the words is the tone.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to drop whatever I am doing and go to a person who’s yelling at me, especially when I hear them using an angry tone. If however, I sense they are calling for me from a caring heart-centered place, I will go. Especially, since I am an empath.

If, however, I sense the yelling has a concern behind it, such as: “Get out of the way”, “Fire”, or “Help”, then yes, I will likely respond by moving quickly, calling out to others, getting help, or offering assistance.

You can tell someone’s intention by their tone of voice. We almost instinctively perceive that!

The first thing the person who yells a lot must get (understand) is that they do not control anyone.

The commanding shouter may make someone uncomfortable enough that they choose to do something for them / bend to their will (think of a soldier going through boot camp) but, 100% of the time, all day, every day, the person on the receiving end of the shouting / yelling has a choice.

If you are yelling at me, I can choose to do as you desire, or NOT! The world does not revolve around you!

So, why do people feel the need to control others with their words? What is all the damned yelling and shouting about anyway?

Over time, yelling at me just desensitizes me to the shouting. Or, my body becomes so stressed that I leave, and get away from that person – even if it means quitting a job! Loud vocals stress my body, if I choose to internalize those commanding words.

I would simply say, loud vocals stress my body, but that is only true if I’m accepting of them.

For example, if I love a particular rock band, I can go to the concert and love the loud singer! So, again, it’s all in our interpretation or how we perceive the tones, or words.

Children hear, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me”. Is this true? Studies show people who are constantly yelled at become negatively conditioned. (The particular study I linked to here says it also depends upon how much credit we give to the person yelling at us, someone in authority, or parent, etc. their words carry more weight!)

Words roared at us, even more so by those we love, either set us up to become aggressive (anger directed outward) or go into our shell, turning anger inward which, turns into depression or resentment. They may get to a point where they no longer pay attention to anyone who yells at them or they cry, become nervous, etc.

Yes, some words hurt, but maybe not for all the reasons we think.

The intention of the person using the word sets the tone. It’s not just the word that hurts.

Words after all, are just words. They are not REAL. They may represent something, but they are abstract and we can choose to define them any which way we want!

Words need to have a shared definition before they really count for anything anyway. Shared definition is very important – for example, you may define the word “fun” very different than I define the word “fun”. Interestingly we may define the words: “hurt”, “fear”, “pain”, etc. very differently based upon our understanding and experience.

When someone speaks light, fun, happy, or encouraging words to us the tone is typically lighter too! We feel it. Think of how your lover speaks to you. Think of how your best friend speaks to you when you’re engaging in fun, giggly, or perhaps deep insightful conversation. Think of how your grandparent or other close relative speaks to you WHEN they are flowing pure love (energy) to you. You feel loved, warm, and cared for as they speak! You know that they love you, their words are soothing and envelope you in love. Ah!

So let’s try a little experiment. As you sit there and read my words, be sure there is nothing else going to make you excited, no drama – ok? Make sure you’re not distracted and that you are relatively calm and peaceful.

As you begin to read the following list of words –  note if any push your buttons. Specifically do they get  you riled up, mad, sad, or other negative emotion. You’re safe. No one is physically going to harm you and you know this. Only check as you read each word slowly if you feel any mental or physical response. Here goes:

  • Confrontation
  • You’re ugly
  • Scream
  • Attack
  • You’re stupid
  • Betrayal
  • Fight
  • You’re bad
  • Struggle
  • Aggravate
  • Shut up
  • Insult
  • Coward
  • Assault

Do you feel anything in your mind or body as you read the words? Can you agree that these are just words. Characters on the screen. If you felt anything in your mind or body do you see where that is because of the way you define the word or link it with a previous experience?

When someone relays a hurtful story do you, do you find yourself wincing or in some other way empathizing with their story? Again, you are not IN their story – no one is attacking you, but often I find that many of us (especially empathic people) in some small way can sense or feel the pain the person went through during their experience. It’s also the reason I won’t watch certain movies. If I don’t feel the pain in my body I may have bad dreams because the movie assaulted my mind.

To take this topic, “Words are only as powerful as we allow” in another direction, what about doctors who tell their patients they only have 6 months to live? Those words hurt in another way.

In my opinion, doctors break the Hippocratic oath when they tell patients they only have x number of weeks or months to live or there’s nothing else they can do. The doctor may not shout at you, so it’s not the volume of the voice (such as yelling) but those words are very heavy to receive. In fact, it has been theorized that a doctor’s end of life time frame prediction could induce an auto-suggestion manifesting as self fulfilling prophecy.

What’s wrong in this scenario is that people ascribe so much weight to the doctor’s words because of the physician’s credentials and so-called authority. The finality of the meaning we ascribe to the time limit of this death sentence (no pun intended) really packs a punch! In fact, I recall several people telling me that when their doctor told them they only had x weeks or months to live they literally felt a “punch in the gut” of their body!

So, do you stop to question if the doctor’s statement is really true before reacting? Do you take a few minutes to engage your cognitive mind, stay calm, and let the doctor know you want a second, or third opinion? Do you seek out many other experts? Or do you take this one doctor’s word for when you will die? I invite you to think about that because the nocebo effect (read Bruce Lipton’s book “Biology of Belief”) is being proven every day. Of course if you challenge those negative words (and some do – thankfully) they prove the opposite and outlive the prescribed time frame and experience spontaneous healing!

I have been studying the placebo (and nocebo effect) that Bruce Lipton, Phd. speaks of for several years. When we got into the “raw and living foods” philosophy of eating back in 2008 we shared meals with many people who rejected their allopathic physician’s “limit on their life span” and took it upon themselves to gain knowledge and allow their bodies to heal naturally. Dr. Lipton still interviews about the placebo effect and how traditional western doctors only get about 15 minutes of education on it in medical school. In my opinion, even if doctors got a whole course on the placebo effect (and nocebo effect) it wouldn’t be enough.

Dr. Alison J. Kay talks about the placebo effect as well. She has studied in the east, Asia and India and thoroughly knows and understands the basis of the placebo effect (using several modalities, including meditation) and it’s relationship basis of subtle energy. (Reference my full article about Dr. Kay’s work here.)

Recently I’ve come upon an interview by Dr. Paul Drouin of http://iquim.org/ along with Dr. Joe Dispenza where they discuss the placebo effect –>> Click here. This also may explain by how so called “false hope” may indeed be helpful to someone. When you look at the science (which is just measured observation) it begins to make sense.

Let me give you some happy and light words and see if now, they change your mood, or if you feel these in your mind or body:

  • Safe
  • Hug
  • Silly
  • Joke
  • Fun
  • Tickle
  • Whisper
  • Smile
  • Love
  • Laugh
  • Winning
  • Cuddle
  • Soft

How do you feel now? Again, just words. Again, just what meaning you attach to these. Did you think of your pets, loved ones, children, etc.?

One of the Pixar short video’s we love is called, “Dug’s Special Mission” from the movie “Up”. In it there’s a line that my husband and I say to each other often when we’re seeking to be understood. It’s always said in fun, and with a light heart. The line is: “Do you understand the words that I am speaking to you now?” It is our belief that the intention and tone used when words are spoken, often say much more than the word chosen implies.

I am a tonal. I read between the lines – a LOT! Sometimes I get it wrong, or maybe not. Maybe people just catch themselves and then clarify what they mean when I question their words, but I am always seeking to understand. Sometimes when I perceive someone speaking in a harsh or brisk tone it takes me awhile to figure out if they intend to be forceful, irritating, or hurtful. Their tone has probably caused me some undue fatigue. I have even been irritated by the tone of someone’s laughter! Has that ever happened to you?

If you are in any kind of pain or dis-ease, let’s try that same word power game. Focus on the pain in your body. Assign the pain a number 1-10 with 10 being the most intense. Now read the following words:

  • Trust myself
  • Kind
  • Hug myself
  • It’s OK
  • Allow
  • Comfort
  • Getting better
  • Peace
  • I’m alive
  • Knowing
  • Healing
  • Power
  • I’m still breathing
  • Pure Joy
  • Blessed
  • Pure Love
  • Light
  • Flow
  • Bliss

Check in with your pain again. Has your number 1-10 come down?

Even if your number only came down one number say, from a 9 to an 8, that’s improvement! If so, this validates and proves to you the power of words. Read them again but this time in the voice of one person (who either now or from your past) who has a voice you love and who always spoke in a nice, sweet, caring tone. Do it now.

Recheck your pain level.

Bottom line: Words only carry the power (vibration and energy) as we allow. The tone in which the words are spoken (either out loud or in our heads), or the authority of those who speak the words – attempts to make the words carry more meaning / power, however we still have a choice whether to buy in to that or not. If we do not buy into people’s authority, the power of their words mean less to us. If we can decipher someone’s intention based upon the tone we can also better choose whether to accept or reject their words.

Peace and love to all.

We Are All Connected

This is an analysis of CONNECTIONS…

Big connections.

Little connections.

REAL connections.

I’ve been saying YES to many things for many years which, has brought me to this place, to write about connections. The connections we all make everyday. When you step outside your door each day, a HUGE potential exists for you to connect with someone new that offers the possibility to alter the direction of your life!

Are you OPEN to the possibilities? Are you open to making new connections?

The Merriam-Webster definition of connection is: “join two or more things“, “the state of being connected” and “a situation in which two or more things have the same cause, origins, goal, etc.” What does this remind you of? It reminds me of Jesus’ sayings:

“…if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”

“…where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

So, you need to be open don’t you? You need to be willing to be one of the two parties involved in making a connection.

When you step foot outside each day, first you connect with the ground (unless you live on a boat)! And in that case, as you step a toe in water, you cause a ripple–and I wonder what the fish and other water creatures perceive of your toe in the water?

When you put your foot on the floor upon awakening, or at the least, when you step your foot outside your door try this: say to yourself, Thank You. Try this for a week, or two. Do you find any new awareness’ opening to you?

Once you’re outside, chances are, you connect with another person. Are you grumpy? Not feeling well? Anxious because you’re running late?

spiral-energy

Time is a man-made concept. Not everyone lives by the same rules about time either. So, take a breath. Smile at the person in front of you. Be grateful you have the opportunity for this interaction, even if it’s a short interaction.

Just be grateful. Anything can happen to you today!

If there’s ever a time when you start to feel sorry for yourself, read the account of Job in the Bible.

You can live with less ego in your life when you understand that we’re all connected. Be in gratitude daily – whether something you label as GOOD or something you label as BAD happens to you. One will feel good, the other will teach you something – IF you’re open and willing to learn. See with new eyes and hear with new ears! Isn’t this an exciting time to be alive on planet Earth???

We are connected to the Earth, to the cosmos, to the air, water, plant life, and every living being and creature on the planet in one way or another. We can turn away, or we can embrace these connections. My belief is we can only become better people for embracing these connections.

American astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson has said, “We are all connected; To each other biologically. To the earth chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.

The point is: you really can’t even walk outside without being faced with opportunities to connect with others. You can choose to make those connections good, or not so good. Your attitude and how you respond to others really does make a difference. Not just to them, but to YOU.

You can learn to become more in tune with the connections all around you.

One of my healers, Nora Ross gave me another tactic to promote peace. When someone approaches me I am to say to myself (using my inner dialog) “I love you” toward them.

What I have found is that when I can practice this the way I respond to people changes. If someone approaches me for assistance I say to them, “How may I bless you today?” or “How may I help (serve) you today?” instead of “Yes?” or “What?” then this becomes quite a profound experience and allows a magnificent exchange to occur.

For more, about how we’re all connected read the book Transform Your Life Book 2 – Inspirational Stories and Expert Insights that includes my chapter called, “We Are All Connected”. This is my first co-author book project and it’s filled with timeless insight from many gifted authors.

For more about being open, look for my second co-authored book (coming soon!) called, The Energy of Receiving” by Happiness Publishing. My chapter is called, “Open to Receive”.

I’ve been living by, and thinking in agreement with these two mantras for many years: “We Are All Connected” and “God’s timing is always perfect“. However, this is a PROCESS, there is NO COMPLETION or finish line.

Philosophy would also aim for us to “know thyself“. Indeed one of the most profound connections we can uncover is how our inner being is connected to God.

Some of the major connections in my life have been / are:

  • Without my mom sharing a bite of her sandwich with my dad, I would not be here
  • Without my body having experienced asthma my mom may have not taken me to a chiropractor as a child whom first taught me about natural (even holistic) health care
  • Without my maternal grandparents going to the church they did, my mother following their lead, and raising me within a Living God believing Christian faith, I would not have experienced the healing power of God via “laying on of hands” – the first and most powerful Source of Energy Medicine
  • Without my dad being in the Citizen Band (CB) business (isn’t that interesting and perfect for me? It was all about Frequency) I would not have met my first husband, father to both of my children

Are you getting a sense of the convergence that occurred already by this point in my life that’s brought me to the awareness you’re reading in my posts?

  • Without my friend Margie (also of the same Ever-Living “God still speaks today” kind of Christian faith) I would not have taken my first college class, which led to me working for a University for 10 years and obtaining my first degree in Aviation Business Administration (lots of emphasis on writing, both during my work there and their rigorous science degree program).
  • Without one mentor friend in particular, Digi , I wouldn’t have moved out of the higher ed arena to the corporate world (1997).
  • Without my friends Nancy and Holly I would not have met my wonderful “love of my life” hubby Richard! (And thank you Suzi for marrying us!) And without my friend Pattie, I might not have met her sister Nancy!
  • Without continuing my education I wouldn’t have the current financially strong and relevant career I have today (as well as, meeting beautiful coworkers/mentors along the way – many played a pivotal role).
  • Without Richard introducing me to juicing, distilled water, and a healthier way to eat (no soda or fast food since 2003) I am quite sure I would not be as healthy as I am today, and later… all those baby steps enabled me to go raw vegan, do a 40 day juice fast, etc.
  • Without Richard’s auntie Millie, (her wisdom and encouragement was so enlightening to me) I would not have tried acupuncture
  • Without listening to my own inner guidance (gut feelings) when I didn’t feel the first acupuncture doctor was right, going back and seeing Joan Massey, Doctor of Oriental Medicine for several months and asking her questions, learning, and following her advice, I would still have asthma
  • Without beginning my quest for health at HealthQuest (when Dr. Joan was there) I wouldn’t have met Dory Valentine my massage therapist and yoga teacher. I also began having colon hydrotherapy at HealthQuest (they may not offer these now) but I continued with this after moving to Orlando and found a great deal of healing from the practice.
  • Without Joan I wouldn’t have met Nora Ross (who treated me using multiple modalities including Raindrop Therapy and therapeutic essential oils)
  • Without God leading me to put my hands together when I pray and my own inner being allowing the asthma in my body to reverse and heal I would not be writing and speaking about natural and holistic health, nor would I be as healthy as I am today – able to do so much! No diseases, no aches or pains, no surgeries (as in “replacements”), and NO medications!!!
  • Without my kids, who are now grown up, I would not have a granddaughter and via marriage, a great-granddaughter who teach me much about the simplicity of being excited and thrilled all over again with all the little things of life.

I honor all of the people who have blessed me in my journey. The connections I have experienced in my life, most all have enabled me to learn and grow in some aspect.

I continue honoring all of my connections today!

Thank you to my recruiter and friend, Doreen Austin, and a referral from a previous coworker that culminated in bringing me to work in St. Petersburg, Florida–moving from Orlando, July 2013. Oh, how delicious life has become!

I would not yet be a published author without the connections afforded me by holistic life coach Dr. Alison J. Kay, (who also has a practice that assists in the clearing of our subconscious blocks). I found Dr. Kay on LinkedIn and reached out to her several times, even before moving to sort of pre-pave the way for me to work (in some / any capacity) in the holistic health and wellness arena, and continue writing on a subject that thrills me immensely on a soul level.

In Dr. Kay’s book, “What If There’s Nothing Wrong” she discusses the scientific evidences along with ancient understandings of various aspects of connection – connection of the mind to the body, “an interconnection between all animate life”, and how science is proving these connections. Dr. Kay’s book connects with what I have been studying and writing about as she states, “the mind-body connection puts the power back in the hands of the individual…” and this is the basis of my upcoming third book, “Take It Upon Yourself”.

Dr. Oz says on Oprah’s website, “…the next big frontier in medicine is energy medicine“. I believe we are at an exquisite time in history when western medicine will open to the connections to the subtle energies that guide us, working in and through us all.

Dr. Alison J. Kay introduced me to Joeel and Natalie Rivera of Transformation Magazine and Transformation Publishing while I was assisting her at the Atman Center during an event. And there, I also met Mary Ann of Awakened Fibers. I think  of Mary Ann daily when I hug my Beau pillow (read about that here). And Alania Starhawk of We Believe In Light. And by assisting Dr. Kay at the second annual Awakening Into The Sun festival (initially at First Unity of St. Petersburg), which led me to participating at the 3rd annual Awakening festival, and now, volunteering at the new Awakening Wellness center (a dream of mine) and volunteering with the 4th annual Awakening festival! How does it get any better than this? Woo-hoo!

“Sure, most physicists will tell you it’s impossible to feel this entanglement, this “spooky” connection to another living being. But when you reflect on a past love or a mother’s inexplicable knowledge of their child in danger; then you really have to stop and look at the evidence. There is proof that we are all connected, and it has more to do with the creation of the universe than the simple fact that we are all humans.”

In my experience, if your heart is pointed in the direction of LOVE you emanate a vibration, sending ripples of unconditional love and compassion outward, which allow you to be a blessing to others. You will help yourself and lift others.

If you don’t know what to do next, follow what feels lighter (vs. heavier) and really feel for these guiding feelings IN your body before making a particular choice. Many call that listening to their “gut feeling”. I call these my “God bumps” and they are my validation that I’m heading the right way. My way, may not be your way. But, there are many paths that lead to the same destination.

Don’t ignore your inner guidance – it exists for a reason. You were fearfully and wonderfully made.

Just what is Reiki, Shaman, & Qigong?

I thought I would take a few minutes to plop down my thoughts about these healing modalities. I provide some research and links along with my personal experience:

1) Reiki promotes self-healing by helping one relax and reduce stress. From Japan, Reiki uses beautiful symbols which a practitioner “paints” in the air / aura around the client. I have both been a client and attended two classes. It is amazing to feel the heat / warmth on specific areas of your body when you are seated, eyes closed, and have no idea where the Reiki master is until you feel the heat. Reiki is not magical but may be mystical depending upon your interpretation. Since my upbringing included a faith that taught “laying on of hands”, AND present day revelation, I have no fear of spiritual types of healing (because everything originates from God, Source, Divine) and in fact, I embrace all healing modalities! Reiki is often translated to mean, “Spiritually guided life force energy”.

2) A shaman is a person with a gift for healing, a person who has practiced bridging the natural and supernatural to effect change in one’s health. A shaman may also be a priest, monk, or tribal medicine man/woman. The shaman I met did not go into a trance, did not bang a drum, or dress weird. Too many times people let misguided perceptions of what alternative natural healers “may be like” and totally miss a blessing!! Profound health and guidance comes through healers not a pill.

3) Qigong is a powerful healing and energy medicine from China. It dates back to between 2500 – 5000 years. There are different Qigong applications.

  1. Healing Qigong, sometimes called medical Qigong helps the client understand and know how to work with one’s own energy system to balance and prevent dis-ease.
  2. This is the one I experienced. External Qi healing funnels energy through the body, from the head to the feet – actually pushing or detoxing illness down the legs and out the feet!
  3. Sports Qigong – the one most familiar to those who practice the martial arts. Also, people learn this for improved golf games, increased agility, accuracy, and stamina while playing sports.
  4. Spiritual Qigong – most associated with spiritual and self-awareness, most likely evolving from Taoism and Buddhism.

I had an amazing visit with Dr. Laurie Zakresky. She performs a blend of modalities of healing. She intuitively learns what you have need of and applies what will help.

In the treatment room, you lay fully clothed, shoes off, on a massage table. Typically massage or meditation type music is playing in the background. The Reiki, Shaman, or Qigong practitioner will move hands near your body, and sometimes pull on your feet, or touch you lightly on pressure points. There is no massage or such happening.

You may experience a warmth / heat, tingling, or other physical feeling when the practitioner passes hands near your body. You will notice, often very soon, that whatever ill symptoms you had, will lighten or leave your body. I felt tingling in my legs and feet. I also was a bit lightheaded when I got up to leave. By the time the hour session ended, some sinus issues I had were completely gone and I felt quite relaxed. I was instructed to continue pressure point tapping for a couple of issues and to drink more water.

Dr. Laurie not only showed me where my pressure points were, and how many times to tap them, etc. but also provided me paper instructions of exactly where to tap on my body so I wouldn’t forget. There was no charge for healing services, however, gifts are always appreciated and of course, she has a store full of wonderful items so it would bless you both if you found anything to purchase.

I will be spreading the word about Dr. Laurie and the Divine Books store. The store sells books, crystals, soaps, natural candles and scented wax “melts”, a kind of pure room air freshener, cards, gifts, and more.

If you’re in the St. Petersburg, Florida area and have any health issue, I hope you will call her to arrange an appointment.

Peace, love, and unity. We are all connected.
